Law firm advises on acquisitions

Advisors from a West Midlands law firm have supported Simwood Group PLC on two recent acquisitions aimed at consolidating its leading position in the telecommunications sector.

The acquisitions have seen Simwood Group purchase the entire share capital of Birmingham-based Sipcentric Limited and Walsall-based Birchills Telecom Limited for undisclosed sums.

The Higgs & Sons team was led by corporate partners Geoff Kettle and Adrian Cutler with additional support provided by members of the wider business services team.

Adrian Cutler said: “We have been working with Simwood for several years now. Their position in the marketplace is incredibly strong, reflected in their well-deserved reputation for innovation and quality of service. These latest acquisitions will not only enhance their standing within the sector but enable them to secure their position as a major influencer in the global telecommunications market now and in the future.”

Established in 1996 Simwood Group services more than 200 wholesale customers in more than 52 countries, most significantly the UK home market and the USA where it has been a licensed carrier since 2018.

Sipcentric is a long-standing Simwood partner, providing white-label platform-as-a-service hosted PBX to channel partners while Birchills Telecom is a veteran reseller serving the SME community.

The deals will see Charles Chance remain CEO of Birmingham based Sipcentric.
