Speciality coffee roaster opens second branch

Speciality coffee roaster 200 Degrees is opening its second coffee shop in central Birmingham this month, serving the busy area surrounding Birmingham New Street station.

Following the success of its Colmore Row shop which opened in 2016, the new 65-seater Lower Temple Street coffee shop will bring 20 new jobs to the city and serve freshly roasted coffee sourced directly from the 200 Degrees roast house in Nottingham.

As well as its hand-roasted coffee, cold nitro brew coffee, teas, smoothies and milkshakes, the new shop will serve the company’s renowned range of imaginative salads, soups, sandwiches, tempting cakes and pastries prepared daily on the premises, with plenty of vegan and gluten free options available to eat in or takeaway.

Located in the Victorian setting of the former Midland Hotel, the new 1,830 sq. ft store retains many of its original period features, blending heritage and history with the relaxed, modern interior decoration that is distinctive to 200 Degrees. It will also have a split bar for rapid and convenient takeaway service.

The new Birmingham venue is the company’s tenth coffee shop to open since 2014 and coffee enthusiasts can purchase freshly roasted beans in store and online, as well as coffee machines and gadgets to recreate 200 Degrees’ distinctive taste at home.

200 Degrees now supplies coffee to more than a hundred wholesale customers across the UK, as well as providing bespoke ‘beans to machines’ solutions for numerous offices, restaurants, cafés, hotels, conference centres and shops.

Tom Vincent, co-founder and director at 200 Degrees, said: “Birmingham is the first location outside of Nottingham in which we’ve opened two coffee shops, and we’re very excited to contribute further to the food and drink scene across the city and be part of this area’s rapid regeneration.

“Our Colmore Row coffee shop has been very well received since we opened and the new Lower Temple Street store will give our customers somewhere closer to visit next to New Street Station."

200 Degrees, which was set up by Tom and his business partner Rob Darby in 2012, has distinctive coffee shops in Nottingham, Birmingham, Leeds, Sheffield, Leicester, Cardiff and Lincoln as well as its roast house in Nottingham. The company has further plans to grow, with a shop opening in Liverpool’s Metquarter centre this July and two more shop openings set for the UK later this year.
