Businesses across the West Midlands are being invited to a free event focused on behavioural safety and cultural change in the workplace.
The event, hosted by the Birmingham Health, Safety and Environment Association (BHSEA), in conjunction with HSE’s Working Well Together (WWT), will take place tomorrow (Wednesday June 18) at The Locker Room, Walsall FC.
It will explore how organisations can influence safer working environments by understanding and improving the behaviours, attitudes, and culture that drive health and safety performance.
Open to both members and non-members, the event will cover key topics including tools for measuring and managing safety culture, real life case studies of cultural change in SME settings, the role of a leader in shaping safe and sustainable behaviours, and how high-performance culture is a piece of cake.
The WWT is an industry-led intervention programme, supported by the HSE and the Construction Industry Advisory Committee (CONIAC) which delivers key health and safety to SMEs, the self-employed, and micro-businesses in the construction industry specifically.
Renowned safety psychologist and author of Talking Health, Safety and Wellbeing, Professor Tim Marsh, will share his expert insights with the audience, with further presentations by The Mental Wealth Mentor Lou O’Connell, Mark Cartwright from Driving For Better Business, WWT’s Jason Burt, and Becky Ray from Culture Kicks.
Marisa Firkins, BHSEA Construction Committee co-chair and owner of Safety Forward, said: “Improving safety isn’t just about compliance – it’s about people. This event is designed to help our region’s SMEs understand how behavioural safety and cultural change can have a real, lasting impact.
"It can not only result in higher levels of health and safety performance, but in greater productivity, enhanced reputation, and improved employee engagement. Whether you’re just beginning to explore this area or looking to strengthen existing efforts, this session promises to provide valuable, actionable insight.”
The four-hour event commences at 8.30am with free breakfast - to reserve a place, visit www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/1321558500049
