Law firm appoints well-known face

Midlands legal firm Ansons Law has appointed one of the best-known corporate lawyers in the region as director and head of banking and structured finance.

Philip Round joins to lead Ansons Law's structured finance, transactional and secured lending work from George Green LLP, where he spent many years as a partner and led the banking and structured finance team.

Martin De Ridder, managing director of Ansons Law, said: "Philip is one of the most respected corporate and structured finance lawyers in the region, and clients trust him. His arrival strengthens the banking and finance work we already do for business clients and their lenders.

"Philip's appointment is a key strand in our long-term growth plans. He knows the Black Country business community well, and with our Dudley office now established, he is a natural fit for where Ansons is going."

Philip's appointment by Ansons follows last month's appointment of Johnathan Dudley, the veteran 'manufacturers' accountant' who spent 38 years at Crowe LLP, as the firm's strategic consultant advising on growth plans.

Philip said: "Ansons has grown phenomenally across the Midlands, and the success of the Dudley office shows what can be achieved with a genuine commitment to the Black Country in the form of a physical office populated by real-life lawyers eager to speak face to face with clients.

"This is where I have built my career and some of my strongest client relationships, and I'm excited to be part of a firm that is investing in the region and its businesses."

Philip advises lenders, large corporates, financial service providers and entrepreneurs on structured finance, secured lending and corporate transactions, including leveraged deals and group reorganisations.

He is recommended by The Legal 500, an independent guide that ranks law firms and individual lawyers, and ranked Band 2 by Chambers and Partners, another legal service guide, for his corporate and M&A work for SMEs and owner-managed businesses in the West Midlands.

One client told The Legal 500 that Philip "always takes the time to understand and address my concerns." He is described by a client in Chambers as "very diligent with an amazing eye for detail".

Philip will work with clients across Ansons' four offices in Lichfield, Cannock, Sutton Coldfield and Dudley.
