New Barclays branch opens in Birmingham

Barclays has officially opened its new Longbridge branch. The premises at Longbridge Town Centre, Birmingham, will be the flagship branch for the west side of the city centre, accommodating all the staff previously located at Northfield and Rubery branches.

The multi-million pound new state of the art premises embrace innovative technology and design, enabling customers to interact with Barclays in surroundings that are comfortable and accessible for all.

Chris Payne, Community Banking Director for Barclays in the West Midlands said: “Bankers have traditionally been at the heart of the community, supporting people with their finances and helping local businesses to grow. The new branch has been designed to incorporate the latest technology to enable all our customers to transact with us in a way that suits them.

"We’ve also included a purpose built area to hold events like Code Playground, Tea and Teach, fraud awareness and financial education sessions, helping Birmingham people to thrive in this digital age and manage their money more confidently.”

Richard Burden, MP for Northfield who officially opened the branch, said: “I was pleased to be asked to officially open the Longbridge branch of Barclays and to hear about the ethos of the branch, including the work they are doing to offer money management skills training locally.”

The new premises, which are open plan, provide space for new technology and specialist advice together with more choice and privacy for customers.

The banking hall includes traditional counters and self-service tills and customers will notice more staff in the banking hall armed with iPads ready to give direct assistance to customers, showing them how to use the new technology or helping them with their enquiries.

In addition, the branch benefits from extending opening hours which means that on a Thursday, people will be able to do their banking in the branch until 7pm and on a Saturday from 9.30 am until 4.30 pm.
