A Birmingham-based manufacturer of aluminium windows and doors has completed two heritage projects in the West Midlands.
Performance Window Fabrications (PWF) designed, supplied and installed aluminium doors at the conversion of a four-storey 1930s Art Deco former cinema into 38 premium apartments in Lichfield city centre, Staffordshire.
Throughout the project PWF worked closely with the local conservation officer, bringing part of the city’s rich heritage back to life. The Old Picture House scheme is being delivered by property development company Somerton Jones in a £5 million regeneration of the former Regal Cinema in Tamworth Street.
PWF has also supplied and fitted a wide range of windows and doors at another Somerton Jones development - The Old Chapel in Fazeley, Tamworth. The company delivered windows of a unique design, in keeping with the original arched steel windows.
The distinctive red-bricked building overlooks the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal, at the heart of the UK canal network, and all the apartments have canal views.
Alex Sutherland, managing director of PWF, said: “We’ve really enjoyed working alongside Somerton Jones, helping to transform these two historic buildings and create high quality new homes.
“Our design team and fabricators were challenged to create windows and doors that complemented the heritage of the unique properties. We delivered products that have really enhanced the developments and we are delighted with the results."
Based in Aston, Birmingham, PWF comes under the umbrella of Six-Twenty Group. It recently launched Fire Windows Direct targeting the fire rated windows and doors sector, and Glass Roof Direct. Glass Roof Direct supplies thermal flat rooflight windows. It has a range of three top quality products – fixed, ventilation and access - all manufactured to the highest industry standards at its Birmingham factory.
