Zurich opens two new offices

Zurich has strengthened its commitment to the West Midlands region as the global insurer opens two new office facilities in the region.

Having assessed its future needs, Zurich Engineering moved from its existing site in West Bromwich, to a new, state of the art engineering technical centre. The new site has opened at the Steelpark site in Wednesfield bringing 30 highly technical jobs into one location for employees who specialise in engineering consultancy, technical training and metallurgical services.

And after decades at its Hagley Road site, Zurich’s regional underwriting, risk engineering, sales and claims teams – a total of 340 employees – have relocated to modern, new facilities at the Colmore Building in the heart of Birmingham city centre.

Matt Perkin, head of region for the West Midlands and South West, said: “These two new facilities are just part of our commitment to, and investment in, the UK. We have some great people at Zurich and we want them to be operating in facilities that suit their experience and expertise, and will make it easier for us to deliver good outcomes to our customers.

“We’re committed to the West Midlands, its people and the insurance market, and we’re looking forward to continuing to serve the needs of our customers and local communities from our new offices in the centre of the city.”

Andy Street, the Mayor of the West Midlands, who officially opened the Colmore Building, said: “I was delighted to formally open Zurich’s new office in the centre of Birmingham. The region is a leading place for businesses to locate, invest and grow and Zurich’s further investment is testament to this.

“The West Midlands is undergoing an economic renaissance and I am sure many other businesses will follow Zurich’s lead and commit their future to the region.”
