Support for Armed Forces recognised

A West Midlands political affairs and business growth consultancy has been recognised as an employer that actively supports the British Armed Forces.

Walk Through Walls, based in Birmingham, said it was “proud” to receive a bronze award from the Ministry of Defence (MoD)’s Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) - as it pledged to progress on to the silver and gold levels.

This comes after the company earlier this year signed the Armed Forces Covenant, which demands fair treatment, support and opportunities for service members, veterans, reservists and their families.

The ERS has three award levels - bronze, silver and gold. Bronze means Walk Through Walls has made its first formal steps towards becoming a higher-level Armed Forces employer.

Gary Sambrook, managing partner at Walk Through Walls, said: “This is a proud moment for all of us at Walk Through Walls. Each one of us is eternally grateful for the freedoms we enjoy every day - freedoms which came at a cost.

“Achieving bronze ERS recognises our ongoing action-based commitment to the Armed Forces, including through the campaigns and support we deliver.”

Walk Through Walls is currently running a marketing and political engagement campaign for KP Law, the UK group action specialists, who are bringing the first legal claim in the UK courts against 3M, the American PPE manufacturer, which supplied defective earplugs to UK armed forces for 20 years. As a result, many British troops suffered hearing damage.

Professor Paul Cadman, chief executive of the One Thousand Trades Group, which owns Walk Through Walls, added: “This award reinforces our values as a group. We support those who have served, and with organisations seeking justice and recognition for them.”

Walk Through Walls, which is now focused on achieving silver status, will soon be officially listed on the Ministry of Defence ERS bronze award holder list.
