Ryanair launches new route

Ryanair has announced an additional route to its UK 2022 schedule – Birmingham to Knock – operating twice weekly from March next year.

The opening of this new route reinforces the airline’s commitment to the UK and the rebuilding of the country’s tourism industry, playing a key role in the recovery of local jobs and the economy.

Ryanair’s director of commercial, Jason McGuinness, said: “We are pleased to add this new route to Knock as part of our UK 2022 schedule, offering our customers yet another amazing European destination to choose from when planning their summer break."

Having added over 560 new routes and opened 16 bases throughout the last 12 months, Ryanair is now looking ahead to 2022 and the addition of 65 new B737-8200 ‘Gamechanger’ aircraft to its fleet, which offer 4% more seats, 16% less fuel and a 40% reduction in noise emissions.

Tom Screen, aviation director of Birmingham Airport, said: “It is great news that Ryanair has announced that it will be flying to Knock for Summer 2022. This route is currently unserved from Birmingham, so the addition of this new destination will allow business, leisure and our customers travelling to visit family and friends to do so direct from their local airport.”
