National accountancy and advisory firm MHA - the UK member firm of Baker Tilly International - has signalled its intention for continued growth across the Midlands following its relocation to a new 7,100 sq ft office in the heart of Birmingham’s professional district.
The firm’s 75 Birmingham staff have moved into the new Grade A office, occupying the entire ground floor of 35 Newhall Street. The building has recently undergone a significant renovation to create a state-of-the-art environment which maximises wellness and sustainability.
Since initially agreeing a 10-year lease on the office in late 2025, MHA has worked with office interior specialist Claremont to create a modern space focused on culture and collaboration.
This includes a wellness room, breakout areas such as meeting pods and open meeting space, as well as custom-designed recreational areas with amenities such as a dartboard and televisions. Other features include standing desks and a statement mural inspired by Birmingham’s history and culture.
MHA has grown its team in the Midlands significantly in recent years. It now has 10 Midlands partners, including Audit and Assurance partner Steve Hale, who joined in June last year, and John Bryant, who joined in August last year as partner to lead a new dedicated corporate finance team in Birmingham.
Chris Barlow, COO of MHA's Midlands' region and partner, said: “Our growth in the Midlands has been part of the firm’s many recent success stories. We have made a succession of senior appointments and promotions to support this growth and ensure we offer the best possible service to our clients.
“We’re committed to further sustainable growth in Birmingham and across the Midlands over the coming years. Therefore, we must continue to invest in attracting and retaining the best experts in the region.
“Our new office matches our ambitions and will allow us to do this. It’s designed to maximise wellness and collaboration, promoting quality engagements between our colleagues. It’s also been created with sustainability in mind, which aligns with our commitment to make a lasting, positive impact on the communities we operate."
MHA was recently recognised in the top 100 of the FT’s UK’s Best Employers 2026 and also achieved the Investors In People Gold Award in 2025 for the second time.
Anna-Marie Chand, head of Talent Acquisition at MHA, said: “A wealth of reports over recent years have highlighted the strong link between a high quality working environment and both job satisfaction and productivity.
“MHA is a people-first organisation, so investing in making our workspace the very best it can be was central to our Birmingham relocation, and we’re already receiving brilliant feedback from our people. The new office has been designed with open‑plan floors to encourage collaboration, as well as dedicated breakout spaces that allow our people to connect, recharge and work in ways that suit them best.”
"The new space will play an important role in supporting our people and ensuring MHA continues to attract and retain the best talent as we grow in the region over the coming years. I’m excited to showcase the environment to the new talent joining us as part of our people-first onboarding experience."
