New store creates new jobs

Poundland has opened a new store in Stechford, Birmingham, bringing customers more choice and creating jobs in the area.

The new store, at Flaxley Parkway, Stechford Retail Park, employs 22 colleagues, and, at nearly 8,000 square feet, will offer shoppers a wide range of items at the amazing value only Poundland can deliver. Features include belted checkouts, which are being introduced at larger stores as part of the discount retailer’s transformation, for maximum convenience.

Customers in Stechford will enjoy the benefits of the rollout of PEP&CO which has become one of the top 20 clothing retailers in the UK, just six years after the clothing brand was born. Stechford will offer a wide range of PEP&CO clothing for the whole family.

It will also have the very latest PEP&CO Home range, including throws, cushions, photo frames and decorative pieces from its autumn-winter 2021 collections. And it joins the growing number of Poundland stores – now standing at more than 200 – to offer chilled and frozen food as part of project Diamond Ice.

Poundland’s retail and transformation director, Austin Cooke, said: “The West Midlands is Poundland’s heartland and where its roots are, so we’re very proud to open another store in the region.

“Our Stechford store offers a fantastic range of items so customers can get more of what they need in one trip and our investment in the design and layout will give them the best possible customer experience.”

Birmingham has been a focus for investment by Poundland this year, with the opening of a new store at Acocks Green, the conversion of 76-77 Corporation Street into a standalone PEP&CO store, and the move into a larger store at St Andrews Retail Park.
