MD appointed to regional advisory board

UK managing director of international quality group G&P Rupert Musgrove has been appointed to the Make UK West Midlands regional advisory board.

The manufacturing trade association is a group of executive leaders from industry across the region responsible for championing the needs of the sector and driving a programme of activity including policy advocacy and skills development.

As part of his role, Musgrove will be responsible for contributing to the strategic direction of Make UK in the West Midlands. He will represent the interests of the region’s manufacturers and industry stakeholders, and serve as an ambassador to promote Make UK’s work, membership, services and policy positions.

At G&P, Musgrove is responsible for all UK activities, including the deployment of specialised staff leading quality improvement services at customer manufacturing and engineering sites across the UK. He also leads new business development through G&P’s fast and agile services including containment, rectification, issue resolution, operations technicians, engineering services and supply chain management.

Musgrove has over 25 years’ technical expertise, having previously had leadership roles at Dyson and JLR where he drove quality and customer satisfaction improvement across engineering, operations and the supply chain.  His extensive manufacturing background provides valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities facing the British manufacturing industry.

He said: “It’s a great honour to be appointed to the Make UK West Midlands advisory board at such a pivotal time for the sector. The organisation plays a key role in shaping decisions that impact the industry, from supply chain resilience to skills and recruitment, so it’s a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with other leaders and drive meaningful progress for UK manufacturing.”

Musgrove takes up the mantle from Geoff Cousins, chairman of G&P, who has sat on the board of Make UK Midlands since 2021. He said: “I’m pleased to pass the torch over to Rupert. His experience in quality management makes him perfectly suited to take on this position. Our continued involvement with Make UK Midlands ensures that G&P continues to have a strong and relevant voice among our peers while gaining real-time insights into current and emerging trends.”

Chris Corkan, region director at Make UK, said: “The Regional Advisory Board is a critical feedback mechanism for ensuring Make UK the manufacturers organisation can accurately represent and support the needs of our sector with both local and national government.

"I welcome Rupert’s involvement to support and drive forwards our work on behalf of the region’s manufacturers. He brings both an impressive industry background and vantage point in running G&P, an organisation with a rich history of supporting the sector. I’m sure he will be a valuable contributor.”

G&P’s membership with Make UK has already enabled the company to engage with a diverse range of manufacturing businesses across a broad range of sectors. This new chapter will help accelerate G&P’s mission to deliver robust quality management solutions for OEMs and tiered suppliers, and to support its customers through rapidly evolving industry challenges.
