Law firm expands Midlands office

Top 150 law firm Roythornes Solicitors has welcomed four new team members to its Birmingham office.

Senior property associate Lorna Ganley, property and litigation solicitors Tahmina Jany and Evita Svampane, and conveyancing executive Nicky Hayre, have joined the firm’s real estate team, supporting landowners, property owners, developers, landlords and tenants.

The firm has seen substantial growth in the last year, hiring 76 people across all its five Midlands and East Anglia based offices. The Birmingham office in particular has gone from strength to strength with a recent office move and 19 new starters.

Lorna has more than 20 years of experience in residential property, assisting with all aspects including sales and purchasing of both freehold and leasehold properties, re-mortgaging, transfers of equity and new build transactions.

She said: “It’s a very unsettling period with climbing interest rates and banks and lenders pulling out of products. We’re already seeing an increase in clients needing extra support and guidance to navigate these changes. I’ve worked in the West Midlands region for many years and hope my position at Roythornes will help me rekindle some relationships and help to continue building the Birmingham market.”

Property management and litigation solicitor Tahmina Jany moved to Nottingham from Manchester after qualifying in April.

She said: “After qualifying, I wanted to gain experience at a larger firm. I always enjoyed the property and litigation sphere, and I am thankful I’ve been able to join the experienced team at Roythornes who have already been supportive with training and mentoring me.”

Fellow property litigation solicitor Evita Svampane, joined the firm after working for Holland & Barrett for nearly two years, dealing with contentious commercial landlord and tenant disputes. Evita also has experience in the housing management and private rented sector disputes.

She said: “I was attracted to Roythornes as it has a great reputation as a firm but also as a supportive environment for newly-qualified solicitors to learn and grow. I’m already working on a wide variety of cases, so it’s great to be able to soak in the knowledge of my peers.”

Vember Mortlock, managing director at Roythornes, said: “We’re proud to act for many of the country’s largest housebuilders as well as landowners, property owners, developers, registered providers and tenants.

“We have ambitious growth plans across the West Midlands and are committed to supporting the dynamic real estate market in Birmingham. The additions of Lorna, Tahmina, Evita and Nicky have helped to strengthen our property offering.”
