A former youth offending centre in Northfield, Birmingham, which closed in February 2024, is being auctioned on behalf of Birmingham City Council in Bond Wolfe’s September auction.
The property became surplus to requirements when Birmingham Youth Justice Service relocated to a new centre on Wake Green Road in Moseley.
The Halescroft Youth Offending Centre in Halescroft Square will go under the hammer with a guide price* of £250,000+ and comprises a single storey building with detached two storey property, standing back from the road behind a forecourt.
Gurpreet Bassi, chief executive of Bond Wolfe, said: “This is a site in a residential area in Northfield that is now available to be repurposed for a variety of uses, subject to planning permission.
“Northfield is an area that provides easy access to Birmingham city centre and yet has the north Worcestershire countryside on its doorstep, and we believe this will appeal to developers and investors with an eye on the site’s potential.”
The main building includes a hall, storage cupboard, assembly hall with office and kitchen, a rear lobby with offices and WC. The house contains an interview room, common room, hall, kitchen and store with four offices and meeting rooms on the first floor. There is an outside garage on the site.
The property is one of a number of lots being offered on behalf of Birmingham City Council through Bond Wolfe’s regular auctions.
Bond Wolfe’s next auction starts at 8.30am on Thursday September 10. The auction will be livestreamed via Bond Wolfe’s website with remote bidding by proxy, telephone or internet.
