Birmingham Airport gets EV ready

InstaVolt is helping Birmingham’s holidaymakers and business travellers make the most of more sustainable transport with 294 chargers at 103 EV charging sites within an hour’s drive of the city’s airport.

The strategic placement of these charging sites addresses a key challenge for EV drivers: the planning required when travelling to airports with time-sensitive flight schedules and the need for reliable charging access both before departure and after returning from trips.

InstaVolt now has over 1,100 chargers across 340 sites strategically located within an hour’s drive from major airports across the country. Along with Birmingham’s 103, these include 58 around Manchester, 118 across Heathrow, Stansted, Luton and Gatwick, 43 around Newcastle and 41 near Bristol.

Journeys beyond the airport – from drop-offs and long-stay parking to onward travel in rental cars – are increasingly electric. InstaVolt’s charging sites serve leisure passengers, airport staff and business travellers using the growing number of electric rental cars.

Delvin Lane, CEO of InstaVolt, said: “Our charging locations strategically located near major airports support a growing number of EV drivers who are choosing cleaner, smarter ways to travel.

“Whether they’re flying out or heading home, making the most of the cheaper flights once schools return or jetting out on a business trip, convenient and reliable charging removes the stress from airport journeys. We’re making it easier than ever for travellers to choose sustainable transport for every stage of their journey.”

With over 2,000 chargers live and plans to install 11,000 ultra-rapid chargers by 2030 in the UK and Ireland, InstaVolt continues to expand its network across the UK.
