A team of Birmingham videography students has been commissioned to produce the second series of a video blog celebrating the business community across the West Midlands.
Multifleet Vehicle Management, which trades as runyourfleet and is based in Solihull, launched the vlog called Driven Conversations last year, in partnership with Jas Rohel, a local entrepreneur and broadcaster.
Lewis Morrison, a film and media student in his third year of a BA Filmmaking degree at BCU, will now take on the role of head of production and editing for the vlog’s second series. He will work closely with students from the Games & Media department at BMet college as they film and edit the vlog.
Jas Rohel meets business leaders, politicians and local influencers in the front seats of a car, interviewing them about the latest business subjects and other hot topics while they visit popular venues.
Lewis said: “I’m very excited to work alongside everyone involved to create something special. We have lots of exciting ideas to take this series to new heights.
“I also look forward to working with the students of BMet to offer them an opportunity and experience I would have loved to have while I was in college.”
Joanna Lees, PR and marketing manager at runyourfleet, said the Driven Conversations vlog was a fun scenario inspired by comic actor and presenter James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke.
“We’re thrilled to be working with Lewis and the BMet students to help us produce the second series. This will be a community and educational project, with students undertaking full production and editing roles. It’s a continuation of Series 1 but obviously we are super excited to have BMet and Lewis on board with all their fresh ideas.”
Joanna explained that the idea of involving the students came from when she met Paul McCalla, senior business development manager at BMet, at a Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce expo earlier this year.
Paul said: “Following my conversation with Joanna, it quickly became clear that this was an exciting opportunity for BMet and our students to work with runyourfleet.
“This partnership is a fantastic example of how strong links with local businesses can create real-world opportunities for students, allowing them to put their skills into practice, gain valuable industry experience and build the confidence they need for successful careers.”
The BMet students’ part in the project will be supported by Adrian Baker, deputy department manager of the college’s Games & Media department.
The first series of Driven Conversations had five episodes that explored the lives and careers of various guests, including:
The second series will start with the Christmas edition, and the filming begins this month.
