Former police station is sold

KWB has completed the sale of the former Ladywood Police Station in Birmingham to MIA Property Group, paving the way for a significant new residential-led regeneration scheme in the city.

Marketed by KWB on behalf of West Midlands Police after becoming surplus to operational requirements, the 0.88-acre site comprises a cluster of two and three-storey former police buildings in a highly accessible location off Ladywood Middleway.

The acquisition by MIA Property Group adds to their ownership of the adjoining site, creating a much larger, strategic development opportunity.

Director at KWB Martin Cook said: "We’re delighted to have secured a successful sale of this prime site for West Midlands Police. The ability to combine the site with neighbouring land in MIA’s ownership provides the scale and cohesion to deliver a transformative development that benefits both Ladywood and Birmingham as a whole."

Eamonn Colman, investment director at MIA Property Group, said: "This acquisition strengthens our commitment to investing in Birmingham’s future. By uniting this site with our adjoining landholding, we can plan and deliver a considered, design-led residential development that responds to the city’s housing needs and enhances the local environment. Birmingham is undergoing a period of significant growth, and this project will play a role in supporting that momentum."

The deal reflects the sustained appetite for strategic urban regeneration opportunities in Birmingham, where strong population growth, major infrastructure investment, and the city’s appeal to young professionals continue to drive demand for new housing.

KWB has an established track record of marketing surplus police properties across the West Midlands, with previous disposals including Shirley, Kingstanding, Brownhills and Willenhall police stations.
