Double hire strengthens team

Law firm Flint Bishop has appointed an additional two real estate lawyers to support its national reputation for dealing with high-value and complex commercial and residential property development work.

Associate Amanda Huggins has joined from Newhall Solicitors and will be based at Flint Bishop’s Birmingham office. She brings with her considerable expertise acting for clients including independent landlords, business owners and multinational corporations, on a wide range of commercial property matters including acquisitions, disposals, licences, leases, and financing.

Her experience includes transactions on industrial, retail, mixed use and office premises of varying sizes and values.

Edward Drury has been hired as a solicitor at the firm’s Derby headquarters, having previously spent two years at Elliot Mather. Drury has an in-depth knowledge of the legal matters involved with complex, special use and high-value properties, acting on behalf of investors, individuals, developers, pension schemes and companies.

His notable work highlights include managing residential real estate portfolios for investors in the Buy to Let space and more recently advising on an agricultural acquisition of 170 acres involving three farm business tenancies with a value in excess of £1.5m.

The latest appointments at Flint Bishop see the total headcount of their real estate practice rise to 16 across its Derby and Birmingham offices, which includes 6 partners and 2 associates.

In recent months, the team has been fortunate to work on some of the largest and most exciting development projects throughout the UK, including the £100m development of a distribution centre and the £35m acquisition and development of a major mixed-use out-of-town retail scheme.
