Birmingham Newman University has claimed silver for the second consecutive year in the Lecturers and Teaching Quality category at the 2026 WhatUni Student Choice Awards (WUSCAs).
The awards, based on verified student reviews, highlight the academic experience and support provided throughout the student journey.
Professor Richard Medcalf, deputy vice-chancellor of Birmingham Newman University, said: "We are proud to have again been recognised for the excellence of our teaching.
"It is a huge achievement to be rated so highly among competitors for what Higher Education is designed to deliver – a positive educational experience for students. Credit has to go to our dedicated, innovative and expert academic staff, who are collectively committed to providing high-quality teaching and a truly supportive learning environment."
Professor Jackie Dunne MBE, vice-chancellor, said: "One of the aspects of life at Birmingham Newman that sets us apart is the close affinity between our staff and students. I think this is reflected by the warm words we’ve received from students for the efforts we put into providing a deeply enriching learning experience. I’d like to thank all the students who shared their experiences through reviews.
"I’m confident that we will build on this recognition too, with a recently-launched strategy which will see us become the leading university in inclusive education for the graduate workforce of tomorrow.”
The University performed well across a number of categories at the WUSCAs, leading the way in Birmingham for Student Support, and for its Students’ Union. Birmingham Newman also ranked second among West Midlands universities in the University of the Year list, and third for its facilities.
The WUSCAs are the largest student-voted university awards in the UK, compiled from tens of thousands of student reviews.
