Logistics firm hits £300m target

Logistics firm Europa Worldwide Group, which has a significant site in Minworth, revealed at its staff conference that the company’s turnover for the last 12 months had hit the £300m target.

Europa’s Birmingham branch, the firm’s third largest UK site, which has a team of 113 and is based at Prologis Park, Midpoint Way in Minworth, has contributed to that overall Group target as one of the longest serving locations.

Staff from the Group’s three divisions are based at Minworth. The branch forms part of Europa Road (which provides road freight distribution to and from Europe), as well as Europa Air and Sea, which is strategically located to allow access to all UK gateways.

Europa Warehouse in Birmingham is also one of three award-winning 3pl logistics sites which provides value-added capabilities through a combined 1,072,000 sq. ft of dedicated warehouse and logistics space.

Members of the Birmingham team were delighted to attend the “EuropaCom” conference which set out the company’s roadmap to achieve £400m turnover by the end of 2023.

Europa Worldwide Group’s board outlined an ambitious growth plan, including new global sites and expansion across all of its road freight, air and sea freight, and 3pl divisions. The focus being to continue to repeat its accomplishments across its hugely successful core business.

The staff conference was held in London, attended by 500 from Birmingham and across the business and was also livestreamed to staff in Belgium, Hong Kong, and Shanghai.

From an operation with 450 staff and a turnover of £76m when chief executive Andrew Baxter acquired the company in 2013, Europa now has over 1,300 staff, and has just opened three new road freight sales branches, complementing Birmingham and the now 16-strong branch network.

Andrew Baxter said: “We would not have achieved these excellent results without the continued enthusiasm and commitment of our talented and growing team. They showed huge resolve when we were hit by Covid-19, where possible moving fully remote within days, and continued to service our customers across all divisions when many reduced or even stopped their services. We even completed our Corby site in the middle of the global pandemic which is a massive achievement.

“The “EuropaCom” event is an opportunity to congratulate our staff face to face as well as communicate our future plans.”
