Midlands law firm Ansons is expanding its Dudley office after seeing its team grow from four to 16 in its first 12 months.
With competitors shutting down branches and increasingly moving services online, Ansons boldly bucked the trend by opening at Castle Court in October 2025 in the belief Dudley needed a local law firm with a physical base inhabited by real-life lawyers for local clients to speak with.
“When we opened in Dudley a year ago, we did it because we believed the town deserved a firm that would put down proper roots here,” said Martin de Ridder, managing director of Ansons Law.
“Growing from four to 16 people, with a 17th team member due to arrive in November and taking on the second floor in our first year, tells you how that bet has gone. We've hired local people at every stage of their careers, and that's exactly how we want to keep growing.”
Ansons, which also has offices in Lichfield, Sutton Coldfield and Cannock, started at Castle Court in Dudley on the ground floor. The firm cancelled plans to sub-let the first floor, which it now also occupies.
Ansons has hired at every level in Dudley over the past year, from senior solicitors to newly qualified lawyers and trainees, each person drawn from Dudley and the wider Black Country area rather than drafted in from elsewhere.
The Dudley office offers a full range of legal services, including conveyancing, wills, probate, estate planning and family law, to individuals and businesses across the Black Country.
Ansons’ Dudley office is located next to the new Metro line, said to be due to open this autumn, which will link the town centre directly to Birmingham.
